Karina and I had been discussing ideas of some places to visit on the Central Coast to get a few nice shots of waterfalls so I am able to keep learning how to use my camera. As a kid I remember visiting Somersby Falls on the NSW Central Coast with the family. After having an awesome picnic lunch, I couldn’t wait to go exploring with my brother, sister and cousins.

After not having been there for many years, we took this as the perfect opportunity to go check out how the waterfalls have changed overtime. I’m glad I dressed for the occasion and wore clothes I knew would get rather dirty. After a decent amount of rain the past week, the falls were flowing nicely and we both had to be careful on our feet on the slippery rocks. Although Karina was all set in her gumboots, my sneakers were soaked by the time we left.

Both the top and bottom waterfalls provided the perfect set for some shots and lately I’ve been learning more about long exposure photography, so I spent a fair amount of time playing with different settings to try and get a good shot. I think my next purchase will be a small tripod as I was using my monopod which was OK but a tripod will be much better.

After spending a few hours at the falls taking photos and exploring, we decided to call it a day and head home. The walk back up to the top from the falls definitely takes it out of you! So anyone planning to go there, be prepared and ensure you have good walking shoes and water with you.

Take a look at the pics we got, happy to hear everyones feedback and any tips that will help us out next time.
